Let me get this straight..
Your main session facilitator for Manual Medicine is a hypnotist? Okay.. and he's a Neurolingustic Programming Master Practitioner.. Okay... That's even worse! That means he can hypnotize without even having to do a formal hypnotic induction, right?

And the answer is YES.

So why the F... should i go see a mind-geek about how to use my hands for the good of humanity?

Well.. You're right, first and foremost. He IS a mind-geek. He started with the mind-stuff. Strangely, medical school never quite wiped away the good stuff from what he learned. That's the point, exactly.

WHHHAAAT?

Well, he learned the mind-stuff, then Allopathic Medicine, then .. One day he learned that his hands were literally tools.

That still doesn't tell us why we should trust this Doctor.

Right again. It doesn't. It does, however, tell us that here's a guy who has seen the sides of both the fences. One who has walked both paths.
Mind stuff. Body stuff. Medicine. Holistic Medicine (what "Alternative Medicine" used to be called, back when everyone understood that there just might be more than one way to skin a chicken or remove pain or heal bones).


So your point is?

You can't walk both paths.

WHHHHAAAT? Now you've lost it. and me.

You can only walk two paths if you understand one fundamental thing.

ANNND that is?..

That it is a single path you walk, despite what everyone else sees. That what we see depends on which side of the stree we are looking from, but that it is ONE STREET.

HOLY.. You're creeping me out. And making absolute sense. At the same time.

My point exactly. Both. At the same time. Particle and Wave. Mind and Body. It's one unit.

Okayyy.. that makes sense. So we should see what this guy has to say because he understands that the mind and the body have always been one unit, and that to treat just one aspect is to treat incompletely. That's it!

No. Not really. You should see this guy not because of what he says, but becuase of what he can do. He always used to say that "talk is cheap," "so let's do this."

Okay. Got it.

Not completely. You should also see this guy because he understands that he's not doing any healing at all.

Shooot. you lost me again.

He understands that he's only there to direct, to facilitate. That the brilliant machine that is your God-given body does the work. That's he's only there to help, to guide, to facilitate.

Oh. So that's where the Psychotherapist thing comes in.

Great insight. Probably where he got the notion. Let's ask him later.

One other thing, though: there really can be more than just one road.

I was about to say "cool." Calling it "maturity" is a judgement call. We don't do that here. We don't judge. We demo. We test. The scientific paradigm.

So you're attending a manual medicine workshop?

Clearly heavily paraphrased from Jonathan Clark comes these words from my publicist:

Some people say there is a lot of confusion surrounding our field. Great! In a moment I want to give you 7 criteria or elements you absolutely, positively must consider in any solution you obtain:

1) Make sure the Trainer is certified, has experience and has actually done what you want to be able to do. Clinics do count. [By contrast, you can buy your way up the NLP ladder and reach Trainer status in 5 weeks, but have absolutely no clients or field experience, and never have ran a seminar in your life. Do you really want to be on their first course?]
2) Who developed the body of work you want to dissect? In my own ceaseless learning, I've noticed that the closer i get to the source speaker or reference book, the clearer the message gets. On the other side of the fence, there exist great synthesizers who put together large bodies of work into a truly coherent, functional, reproducible whole. If you can find someone who is both an originator and a synthesizer, go there!
3) What's the only place you can learn R.D.T.s from? Reflexive De-afferentation is like "manual therapy on anabolic steroids!"
4) After listening to, and applying these tools, are you are welcome to contact your Session Facilitator by telephone or email? Doc Strix loves to keep in touch with everyone, especially to hear about their breakthroughs and achievements.
5) If your training keeps demonstrating things as if the mind and the body were not part of one synthesized whole, how much healing can you really do?
6) Malcom Gladwell has indoctrinated me well. Anyone who claims mastery without at least 10,000 hours of experience is someone you should run from very quickly.
7) What is the Trainor's bottomline? What is the main intent? That will tell you very quickly what you'll actually be getting.
